We sold 2584 head on Wednesday with another day of limit down on the futures.  It seems very unfair that people without a single head of cattle can influence the live market as they do.   As we look for solutions for this ongoing problem, a very simple proposal would be if you buy or sell a contract,you have to own some cattle.  If you own a contract of corn, you’d better own some ground and have corn planted.  Enough said. 

The fall calf market was lower, with a big differnce between weaned and unweaned calves.  The yearling market was better than I expected, but was lower than our last auction on April 3.  The slaughter cattle market was about steady with two weeks ago.
