We sold right at 4,000 head here on Wednesday and were through selling be 5:15 in the evening. The market on the yearlings was steady with our last run of yearlings, with the top of the line kind in great demand. The spring calf market was very active, with the quality as good as you will see. The market on the mixed colored cattle and odds and ends was a completely different subject. If I had one suggestion to the producer as far as marketing and getting the most out of your product, I would consider keeping the calves that don’t quite fit the main cut of the calves, wean them and pick a different time. At least you’ll have a chance to put some weight on and try to get the dollars per head up to where a person can make them work.
