We 2125 head of spring calves on Wednesday, with several consignments unable to make it to town due to heavy snow to the west of us. The market on the 400-525lb. calves was fully steady with excellent demand for yearling replacements. The heavier calves were certainly lower as the muddy conditions curbed the demand. I do think that when we get a hard freeze to improve the ground conditions, we'll see the heavy calf market rebound. The slaughter cattle market was fully steady to a notch higher as the good cows sold at $33-35, the majority at $27-29 and not enough bulls to test that market.
