We had a big run of slaughter cattle and a sprinkling of grass calves this week. The demand for grass cattle remains strong with the majority of the 500-600 lb. steers at or near the $1.00/lb. The slaughter cattle market was a notch lower this week, with the top cows at $39-41.75, the next cut at $36-38 and bulls up to $50.00.

Here are a couple of dates to remember for the month of June. On Saturday the 6th, the Cattlemen’s Ball at the Graff/Snover Ranch southeast of Ainsworth with the proceeds going towards cancer research at the University of Nebraska. The annual Farm and Ranch Expo will take place on the 17th and 18th here at Bassett. Make sure and stop by our booth for all of the answers to the world’s problems.
