We had a large run of slaughter cattle here on Wednesday, selling 475 cows and bulls on a market we would call $2-3 higher compared with two weeks ago. The top cows sold at $41-43, the next cut at $38-40 and bulls from $49-54.75. The heiferette market was steady with the 850-950 at $62-64 and the 1000-1050 at $47-54.
The fall calf market was about what was expected, as the 575-625 lb. steers sold at $85-90, the 450-525 at $90-94 and the heifer mates in most cases were $3-5 back from the steers.
The bred fall cow market very active. The top young cows sold from $790-850, the xbred and mature cows at $650-750 and the broken and short term cows at $500-575.
