We had a nice run of feeder cattle on Wednesday with a big crowd on hand to buy them. The market on the fall calves was steady on a limited test, the yearling market was steady on the heifers and the steers were steady on the fancy, home-raised kind and $1-2 lower on the rest compared to last week’s auction. The slaughter cattle market was $2-3 higher with the top kind selling at $38-41 and bulls at $40-44.25.
Attention Area Cattlemen: On Friday night at 7:00 PM, Sept. 4 at the Bassett Livestock Auction, R CALF will conduct a meeting concerning the unfair and unrestricted "dumping" of Canadian fat cattle on our markets. Their aim is to stop this unfair trade imbalance through legislation at the federal level. Make sure and attend this vital meeting.
